Overview
The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management is designed to support managers who have the authority and personal inspiration to translate organisational strategy into effective operational performance.
The Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management has been developed to produce graduates with skills to understand the management of human resources, aligned with good strategic decision making, to maintain organisations’ competitive advantage. To achieve this, learners acquire knowledge through an integrated approach of theory in human resource management and practice using real-time activities. Successful completion of this diploma will enable learners to build on their strategic human resource management and leadership skills and to focus on the requirements of implementing an organisation’s strategy.
Entry Requirements
Learner must fulfil at least one of the following criteria to be allowed entry to the qualification:
Possession of a UK level 6 diploma in related subject or an equivalent overseas qualification
Mature learners (over 21) with relevant work experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme)
English requirements:
If the learner is not from the United Kingdom or a majority English-speaking country, they must provide evidence of English language competency at a minimum of CEFR (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level B2 from a recognised English test provider or IELTS level 5.5 in each components.
Qualification Structure
Learners need to complete all 6 mandatory units that provide a combined total of 120 credits(60 ECTS): 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.
Strategic Human Resources Management and Organisational Behaviour (15 credits): addresses how effective strategic management of human resources supports the achievement of organisational purposes in different organisational contexts; give consideration to the contribution of strategic human resource management to competitive advantage and organisational growth.
Managing and Co-ordinating Human Resources (15 credits): explores people management and development and provides a basis from which learners can examine and critically evaluate the purpose and objectives of human resource management
Leadership and Management Development (15 credits): develops the leadership and management knowledge and skills of people in senior management roles; reflects the nature of the roles and competences relevant at a strategic level
Contemporary Issues in Human Resources Management (15 credits): requires learners to examine contemporary influences on, and contexts of, human resource management and to consider their role in change management processes; the legal and regulatory frameworks which underpin these processes are considered and this unit will support learners to respond to change in the business environment
Global Talent Management (15 credits): unit focuses on the practical aspects of recruitment, selection, employee retention and dismissal, as well as on the strategic aspects of resourcing and talent management within the global context
Performance and Reward Management (15 credits): considers the principles and practices of performance and rewards in corporate contexts; learners will acquire both theoretical and practical understandings of the diverse approaches to reward management and be able to critically reflect on the strengths and limitations of these approaches
Employment Legislation (10 credits): examines the key principles that underpin employment laws and their purpose, as well as major defences that employers are able to deploy when depending cases, and the potential organisational costs and reputational risks associated with losing them
Business Research Methods (20 credits): deals with principles of research including the formulation of research questions, hypothesis and objectives; covers literature reviews, referencing, data collection using interviews and surveys, questionnaire design, statistical analysing using SPSS, qualitative data and methods for drawing conclusions from the analysed data
Duration and Delivery
The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.
The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, online by approved centres only.
Assessment and Verification
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, a learner must have successfully passed all learning outcomes for that unit.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learner’s overall achievement has been arrived at.
Progressions
Passing the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study. OTHM has progression arrangement with a number of UK universities that acknowledges the ability of learners after studying Level 7 qualifications to be considered for advanced entry into masters top-up programmes.
