Overview
The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management is designed to enable learners to develop the knowledge and both generic and vocational employability skills relevant to these sectors. It has also been designed to help learners develop an understanding of the nature of health and social care work in order that they can make informed decisions about whether or not they wish to gain employment in these sectors or as part of their current professional development if already working in these sectors. The Health and Social Care Management Diploma provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the health and social care sector and its wide recognition by employers allows progression directly into employment.
Entry Requirements
Learner must fulfil at least one of the following criteria to be allowed entry to the qualification:
- Possession of a level 5 diploma in related subject or an equivalent overseas qualification
- Mature learners (over 21) with relevant work experience
Qualification Structure
OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management (RQF) consists of the following 8 mandatory units that provide a total of 120 credits(60 ECTS): 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.
Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care (10 credits): introduce learners to the principles of reflective practice and professional development in the health and social care sector, and to support learners to apply these principles to develop their own career as health and social care managers.
Managing Quality in Health and Social Care (15 credits): help learners develop an understanding of different perspectives on health and social care service quality and how it is evaluated in order to empower and involve users of services.
Principles of Health and Social Care Management (15 credits): introduces the core principles, values and legislation that underpins health and social care provision to the learner.
Health and Safety in Health and Social Care Workplaces (15 credits): develop learners’ understanding about their responsibilities in ensuring the health and safety of the health and social care workplace and the people within it.
Financial Decision Making for Health Care Managers (15 credits): introduce key financial concepts and tools for managers in health and social care. The unit gives consideration to the knowledge and understanding necessary for making finance informed decisions in health and social care organisations.
Managing Human Resources in Health and Social Care (15 credits): enable the learner to understand the processes involved in the recruitment, management and development of people in the health and social care workplace.
Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care (15 credits): develop the knowledge, skills and qualities to be an effective health care leader; introduce creative approaches to the workplace, deal with complex leadership situations and provide effective patient and service outcomes.
Research Methods for Health and Social Care Managers (20 credits): provide understanding of research principles, a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and appropriate analysis; develop the research skills and knowledge necessary to undertake an independent research project.
Duration and Delivery
The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.
The qualification is delivered online. This diploma is easy to follow and you can top it up with a university programme offered also by Future Focus. This programme is well recognised and accepted by employers in Malta and abroad.
Assessment and Verification
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, a learner must have successfully passed all learning outcomes for that unit.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learner’s overall achievement has been arrived at.
Progressions
Completion of our qualification will meet a number of university standard academic entry requirements. However, each applicant will be subject to individual assessment and other entry requirements which may affect university entry.
The following progression arrangements have been confirmed by each university. As our qualifications are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) and MFHEA in Malta, learners are also eligible to progress to a top-up degree, master’s programme, or MBA at many universities in UK and overseas with advanced standing.

Fees for the course:
Registration fees: Euro 400
Tuition fees: Euro 2400 of which the registration fees are paid on application and the balance can be paid in monthly payments of Euro 200. Terms and conditions apply.
The registration fees are paid as a deposit on registration.
The tuition fees can be paid in monthly instalments subject to an agreement being signed with Future Focus.
