The course is intended to help adults who failed to obtain or never sat for their English O’level. It can also be used as a refresher course for students who obtained their O’level a number of years ago and are not confident enough to communicate in the English language.
This course provides the student with ample knowledge to be able to communicate in English. This qualification aims to help learners develop a keen understanding of the English language and encourage them to use this language as a mode of communication. |
The entire course focuses on learning outcomes of communication skills. The three modules are:
1. Speaking and listening 2. Reading 3. Writing |
The learner will be able to:
a) Communicate with clarity, relevance, accuracy and variety. b) Use language, experience and imagination to respond to new situations, create original ideas and make a positive impact. c) Scan, filter, and analyse different forms of information. d) Engage with issues inside and outside own community. e) Dealing with the familiar as well as with the unfamiliar.
The students will be continuously assessed throughout the course. This would make up 50% of the final grade. This continuous assessment would ensure that the students are not put under additional pressure and stress in order to get a good grade in their final assessment. On the final day of the course, students will need to sit for a 2 hour test and complete a number of grammatical exercises and a reading comprehension.
This course is a MQF Level 5 course
This course will enable students to gain proficiency in English at MQF level 5 and is structured to prepare students for the government test required for employment in the education sector.
