Level 2 Certificate in Art, Design and Creative Studies

Aims

The Level 2 Certificate in Art, Design and Creative Studies is designed to meet the following aims

• Introduce the basic skills and techniques of art and design disciplines
• Explore creative potential within art and design disciplines
• Develop an understanding of visual language and formal elements relating to art and design disciplines
• Develop and broaden practical and technical skills, encouraging creative potential

The course is a first step into Art, Design and Creative Studies and provides an introduction into the sector with the development of practical skills and the flexibility to suit individual requirements in a variety of different craft areas.

It also provides learners with the opportunity to apply more advanced principles and techniques, including detailed forms of research and experimentation, a wider use and appreciation of materials and design concepts, along with a wider range of tools, equipment, techniques and applications from a craft and design perspective.

1. Using and handling media and materials in art and design
2. Researching and developing ideas through practical application of techniques
3. Working to a brief in art and design
4. Investigating information and developing research techniques
5. Developing and handling media and materials
6. Recognising and applying visual language and formal elements within production techniques
7. Working to set brief

Guided Learning Hours

This course is comprises one lesson per week of 2 hours and the duration is 6 months. Lessons are held at the training centre in Floriana but visits to museums and art galleries can be included. The student is expected to do a project, assignments and carry out extra reading

Course recognition

This course is recognized locally by the MFHEA

Course fee

The fee is Euro 800 which is paid as follows: Euro 400 on application and the balance either on the first day of the course or in two installments of Euro 200 each.
