Award Certificate
This course is intended to encourage learners to understand office processes and its organisation for the effective management of an office and hence an organisation. It also enhances competencies that the learner might already have through practice in their workplace leading the learner to be more professional in the implementation of his/her duties regarding administration, secretarial work and personal assistance to managerial roles.
Module 1 The professional duties of a personal assistant, secretary and administrative assistant (2 ECTS)

Module 3 Documentation and Management of Information Systems (3 ECTS)
Module 4 Written Communication, Forms and Business Documents (3 ECTS)
Module 5 Business English (3 ECTS)
Module 6 Telephone skills and use of social media (2 ECTS)
Module 7 Meetings and Time Management (2 ECTS)
Module 8 Supply and Maintenance of Office Supplies including Health and Safety (3 ECTS)
Module 9 Reception Work, Visitors and Appointments (2 ECTS)
Module 10 Basic Accounting and Financial Principles (3 ECTS)
Module 11 Assertiveness and Customer care (3 ECTS)
Module 12 Basic Principles of Management (2 ECTS)
Method of assessment
The assessor can chose to use the following methods of assessment:
- Worksheets
- Logbooks including Self-Evaluation and Self-Reflection
- Professional discussion
- Observation visits and
- Porfolio of evidence
- Assignment
- Group work
- Presentation
- Examination (Essay format/Short Answers/Multiple choice tests)
- Role play
Entry requirements:
Applicants should at least:
- Be 18 years of age.
- Have School Leaving Certificate.
- Have Matsec MQF/EQF Level 3 in English (grades 1-5) or pass from a proficiency test (Level 3) or equivalent
- Have Matsec MQF/EQF Level 3 in Mathematics (grades 1-5) or pass from a proficiency test (Level 3) or equivalent
- Have Matsec MQF/EQF Level 3 in Maltese or other native language in case of foreigners (grades 1-5) or equivalent
Applicants should also have the ECDL or equivalent (3 years experience working in an office using IT)
- Course level: MQF level 4
- Credits: 30 ECTS
Fee:
Euro 980 payable Euro 400 on application and the balance in instalments of Euro 200. This includes a payment by instalment charge which is a one time fee of € 59(inclusive of VAT) or € 980 on application. Fee includes tuition, course material, exams and certification
Course duration: 6 months part time – lesson once weekly plus 150 hours of supervised practice hours
At the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Follow health and safety policy and procedures;

- Work within a team;
- Choose among options such as travel options, financial options and communication methods;

- Prepare plans and other documents;
- Represent superiors and co-workers;
- Comply with legal requirements.
